Duration Self Paced Program
Format Distance/Self Paced
This unit is now a core unit in the new TAE40116.
The availability of well-designed assessment tools is essential for assessment. Most jobs use tools. If you want a good product, you’ve got to have the right tool for the job. Assessors use a variety of tools to collect quality evidence and record outcomes; like tools used in other occupations, they vary according to the job being done.
This unit, Design and Develop Assessment Tools, covers the skills and knowledge required for the development of effective and relevant assessment tools. This includes:
- Determine the focus of the assessment tool
- Determine assessment tool needs
- Design and develop assessment tools
- Review and trial assessment tools
An assessment tool contains the information, instructions and recording mechanisms that an assessor needs to conduct the assessment. It includes:
- Information and instructions for assessors
- Information and instructions for candidates
- Checklists or other templates for recording the evidence collated from each source
- Documents for determining and recording the assessment decision
The tools must help the candidate to meet required competency standards or other assessment benchmarks, and must clearly identify what types of evidence can be used to demonstrate competency. These tools should cater also for any special needs of the target group, and suit the context and environment of the assessment.
The evidence requirements must always meet enterprise and legislative requirements and help to ensure that candidates comply fully with these.
Distance Learning/Self Paced - available to purchase now.
