Why upgrade from TAE40110 to TAE40116 CIV in Training and Assessment?
The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), have mandated that all VET trainers/assessors must complete the following 2 units from the Training and Education Training Package before 1st July 2019:
- TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills and
- TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools
These 2 units in conjunction with a TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment will allow the holder to continue as a VET trainer/assessor after 30 June 2019.
Under the amended Standards for RTO’s, you do not need to upgrade to the TAE40116 to continue to deliver VET training and assessment in your chosen field, unless you intend to train and assess specifically the CIV in Training and Assessment qualification
However, some RTO’s are now requiring their trainers and assessors to hold the latest trainer qualification (TAE40116), or you may simply wish to hold the most recent qualification for your own professional development as a trainer/assessor.
What does the upgrade involve?
The upgrade involves completing 2 units:
• TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills
• TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools
PLUS additional assessment tasks to cover gaps in the assessment requirements in the new TAE40116 qualification. These tasks are to be completed in participant’s own time, and involve developing assessment plans and validation activities.
