Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety

The Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety is designed for employees who work in a WHS role. 

The course is an ideal extension for people who have completed HSR training, or who have extensive experience in WHS roles in the workplace, but have no formal qualification. 

This course will give you:

  • the confidence and skills to apply WHS legislation to workplace situations
  • the skills to consult with your team and management on WHS issues
  • a better understanding of how you can positively contribute to your organisation’s WHS practices.

Option 1 - with a training contract*

$2,195 (GST free) 
Your employer is invoiced upfront. 

*Training contracts – funding undertaken in partnership with your employer and the government.


Option 2 – without a training contract

$3,950 (GST free) 
20% deposit may be required. Payment plans are available for individuals.


Please note: 

  • ASC Training & Development does not take payment of more than $1,500 from individuals in a single payment.
  • Nationally recognised training is GST free. 
  • There is currently no government funding available for individuals for this qualification. 

HSR training is not required to undertake this qualification.

However, to enrol in this course you must:

  • have English language and literacy skills sufficient to undertake study at Certificate IV level.
  • have good computer skills and be able to organise and manage files, edit documents, research information on the internet, and record video on your phone, tablet or other device.
  • be able to commit 10-15 hours of your own time for each assessment (assessment tasks are completed between sessions).

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

You may be eligible for RPL if you have completed HSR Level 2 or Level 3 training and have appropriate documentation to support your completion.

This qualification is made up of 10 units of competency.

  • BSBWHS413 Contribute to implementation and maintenance of WHS consultation and participation processes
  • BSBWHS414 Contribute to WHS risk management
  • BSBWHS415 Contribute to implementing WHS management systems
  • BSBWHS416 Contribute to workplace incident response
  • BSBWHS418 Assist with managing WHS compliance of contractors
  • BSBWHS419 Contribute to implementing WHS monitoring processes
  • BSBWRT411 Write complex documents
  • BSBCMM411 Make a presentation
  • BSBLDR411 Demonstrate leadership in the workplace

Assessment

  • Assessment is competency based. You will be assessed as ‘Competent’, ‘Partially Complete’ or ‘Not Yet Competent’ for each unit of competency.
  • You will be invited to resubmit work until competency can be demonstrated.
