Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (for Registered Secondary Teachers)

This Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is designed for registered secondary teachers involved with the design, delivery and assessment of VET competencies.

This course is designed for registered secondary teachers and takes into account current their experience as educators in the secondary high school context.

As of 1 March 2024, secondary school teachers with relevant qualifications may train and assess within the VET sector, providing they complete either the TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set or the TAESS00024 VET Delivered to School Students Teacher Enhancement Skill Set. 

In simple terms, this means that registered secondary teachers are no longer required to complete the full Certificate IV in Training and Assessment to train and assess in VET.

Please note: 

  • ASC Training & Development does not take payment of more than $1,500 from individuals in a single payment.
  • Nationally recognised training is GST free. 

To enrol in this course you must:

  • be able to demonstrate vocational competency in the field where you intend to or currently teach.
  • be currently registered as a teacher (in Australia).
  • be able to commit to all 5 days scheduled as well as 10-15 hours of your own time for each assessment (assessment tasks are completed between sessions).


Recognised Prior Learning

There are 12 units of competency (6 core and 6 elective). As a registered secondary teacher you receive:

  • full recognition for 1 core unit and 1 elective unit
  • partial recognition for 8 units.

This qualification is made up of 12 units of competency (6 core and 6 elective).

  • TAEASS413 Participate in assessment validation
  • TAEDEL411 Facilitate vocational training
  • TAEDES411 Use nationally recognised training products to meet vocational training needs
  • TAEDES412 Design and develop plans for vocational training
  • TAEPDD401 Work effectively in the VET sector

Electives

  • TAELLN421 Integrate core skills support into training and assessment
  • TAEASS512 Design and develop assessment tools
  • TAEDEL311 Provide work skill instruction
  • TAEDEL414 Mentor in the workplace
  • TAEDEL416 Facilitate learning for young vocational learners
  • BSBCMM411 Make presentations

Assessment

  • Assessment is competency based. You will be assessed as ‘Competent’, ‘Partially Complete’ or ‘Not Yet Competent’ for each unit of competency. 
  • You will be invited to resubmit work until competency can be demonstrated.
